Five questions for… Uli

Who are the people behind trbo? In our blog series, our employees introduce themselves – and answer five questions about themselves and their work. Today with our Head of Web Development & Project Management Uli Schmid.

1. How did you hear about trbo and when did you start working?

I had a young company with three friends, then COVID came along. We were not very established and promising projects were postponed. As a father, I was the first to leave and start looking for a job. I had also already made up my mind when a recruiter contacted me via LinkedIn and then introduced me to trbo and the job in a phone call. When I said that I had actually already decided, he persisted and I went for the interview with Kira and Philipp. Then everything went very quickly and I’m glad that trbo decided in my favor and so did I.

 2. What is your job at trbo?

I lead the Technical Solutions Team. We take care of the technical implementation of campaigns and layers when Client Success or the client needs support, in case gets too technical. Furthermore I am involved in most of the customer calls for the technical questions. I am also responsible for clarifying all data protection issues with our data protection expert.

 3. Either – Or

Gummy bears – Chocolate – what a question

Coffee – Tea Cappuccino

Stairs – Elevator

Dog – Cat Parrot

Winter – Summer

Sneakers – High Heels But there might be some fifth seasons (carnival in Germany), when it was the other way round for me 😉

Cooking yourself – Going out to eat well, when it comes to what I do more often, it’s the former. If it’s about what I prefer to do, the latter 😀

Beer – wine At the beginning beer, later wine and/or gin and tonic

4. What would you have said about your current career choice 10 years ago?

10 years ago was just busy with the last steps of the master thesis and wouldn’t be surprised that I finally fell for the passion of web development instead of calculating satellite orbits.

5. What do your colleagues do not know about you so far?

Well, I don’t think there’s anything spectacular. I got my first internet connection in 10th grade, initially with a 56k modem, then a 1000 DSL line. Gigantic. I had to repeat the school year, but I was able to create my first websites. And I am still waiting for the moment that Latin will help me enormously in life.

In addition, I was part of the Bundeswehr for 9 months as part of my compulsory military service, to deliver 3 chickens for slaughter to the Einzelkämpfer with a 7.5 ton truck that blew out over 30 liters.

Aaaand I am the best Conchita Wurst double at carnival ever seen. Pictures are available.
