Helping others can be so simple yet so rewarding!

While some people are fighting over the last rolls of toilet paper in the supermarket, or are annoyed that they are once again stuck in city traffic, other people have far greater worries. At the Ronald McDonald House in Munich, families are worried about their sick child.

Helping together

Social commitment is very important to us as a company. That’s why we regularly support charitable causes and institutions. Last Monday, we had the pleasure of packing breakfast packages for the families of young heart patients who stay at the Ronald McDonald House during their treatment.

Since 1995, the Ronald McDonald House at the German Heart Center in Munich has offered families of seriously ill children a temporary home. As many as 24 families can live there at once and can rely on the support of volunteers and staff. The families come from all over the world. The Ronald McDonald House is located directly across the street from the German Heart Center. This allows the families to care for and accompany their child as intensively as necessary during treatment.

No day is like the other, and yet the time of waiting seems endless. Despair, anger, sadness, fear, hope and joy lie close together here. Therefore, it is very important for the families to have a place of retreat. A place where they can regain their strength and recover. Where they can recharge their batteries, but also share their thoughts and experiences. Through the common fate of the children, the families grow together into a community and support each other. Thus, the Ronald McDonald House is not only an accommodation, but a place of encounter and exchange.

Every Tuesday morning, there is a joint breakfast for the families. To help the families leave their worries behind for a short moment, trbo, together with the Ronald McDonald House, thought of making the next common breakfast a little different than usual.

As soon as this concept was shown internally at trbo, many volunteers came forward. Together we bought food and packed a breakfast bag for each family.

In addition to pretzels, wholemeal bread, fruit, cheese, sausage and orange juice, we also prepared homemade chocolate muffins for the little ones. The event was a complete success and not only the children were very happy about it. The Ronald McDonald House is also always happy about any kind of support.

We are very grateful that we were able to help and thus put a smile on the faces of the families – even for a short time.

And that it’s often the mundane things that you need in life is made clear with this photo (“Wishes: saran wrap, pencils, coffee beans, baking sheets, peeler, etc.”).
